Loving yourself. As Valentine’s Day approaches and we think about what to get our spouse or how to create the perfect Valentine Box for our child’s class party, how many times do we remember to love ourselves? Self-care is necessary for us to be our best for everyone else. So, this Valentine’s Day remember to give a gift to the most important person - YOU!
Taking time for ourselves can be one of the hardest things to do. We all have jam packed schedules. Sometimes 5-10 minutes is just enough time to recharge. I like to crank up the radio in the car and sing along. It’s a great stress relief! (No judgement from neighboring cars). When I have an extra hour at night, I like to soak in the tub. I listen to soft music or read a book and enjoy some quiet time just to myself. It’s a lot easier for me because I don’t have kids. Those of you who are moms definitely have a harder time. Perhaps you can arrange a few play dates with another mom. I’ve even read about some mom’s getting up an hour before their children need to so they can have their coffee and their quiet time. I am not a morning person at all but if this works for you - go for it!
In all honesty, it really doesn’t take that long to show yourself a little bit of love each day. Find that 5 minutes somewhere and remind yourself how awesome you are.
